scripting an entire database along with the data

Hi,
I would like to know how to create a script for an exsisting database such
that the script also contains statements to recreate all the data in the
database aswell.

You can create the database script via some of these tools. You can =
also use Enterprise Manager to script the DDL for you.
With that said, what is your goal? If you want to "save" or "move" your =
database, an easier method might be BACKUP and RESTORE. You can execute =
a Transact-SQL backup command to the database server. This command will =
backup your database (tables, data, stored procedures...) to a file =
that you can backup to tape or burn to CD. You can also use this file =
to recreate your entire database.

I did look at the code, and you did make a few modifications here and there.
But it is a minimum courtesy in software industry, to credit the original
author when using his/her code.
You wrote "There is no claim that it is your code". But hey, the code is
hosted on your website. You haven't bothered giving credit to me. Isn't that
implying that it's your code?
If you want to continue offering that code on your website, you better add
my name and URL in the header of that script. Or else, remove it from your
site.

strop unwanted inserts.

An order by clause was added to make sure the insert
statements are ordered by the primary key if it exists.
Previous to this contact - I hadn't recieved any even
though I did ask - therefore I could not ask anyone
requiring answers to questions to contact Vyas as I
couldn't get them. This is why there wasn't any
references. That has since changed and I have talked with
Vyas who seems happy with the arrangement as it now
stands.

script component not executed

Hi

I have a ssis project that contains a parent package and 2 child packages. The parent package loads data from multiple flat files into a database and then kicks off the 2 child packages using separate execute package tasks.

The child package has a data flow.Within the data flow data is extracted from a database. The data is transformed using a script component and then loaded into a second database.

The problem I have is that the second child package is not working. It appears as if the data is being extracted fine.However the script component does not seem to be being executed so the columns that are being transformed are not being changed and so the write to the database fails. When I send the error rows to a database table with all the fields varchar(200) the write completes but the transformed columns are blank.

Also if I put a message box or ComponentMetaData.FireInformation in the script component I get no output.

However when i run this project on my development machine it runs fine but when I run it on the staging server it gives the problems explained above.

Any ideas please?

You have two child packages. Do they both have scripts? Do the child packages run in-process or out-of-process?

How are you executing the packages in each environment? Any differences there?

Scope problem

I have a single table with 1 detail and 2 groups.
The detail contains data per year, the first group is the card which sums
all years, and the second the family of the card.
Year Objective Realized
2006 100
2007 200
2008 0
TOTAL CARD 1 1000 300
TOTAL FAMILY A 3000 (!!) 300
But the "objective" column isn't a detail data. I would like to return TOTAL
FAMILY A = 1000, but it returns 3000 (it sums 1000 for each year).
I try to use scope for the sum objective of family, but it doesn't seems to
work fine...
If someone can help me...

There is nothing on the year lines for objective, the value is on the line
card, and the sum in the family line.
So, I would like to sum all the objectives cards for the family.

Is your resultset returning a row per year and then grouping on card
and family?
and the objective is repeated for each year in the same card?
I dont think you can do what you are asking with that resultset since
the aggregate functions operate on the underlying rows in the resultset
(years) - the scoping just determines which years are included in the
aggregate.
Maybe you can try altering the resultset so each year contains only the
average objective per card or only the first year in a card contains
the objective. Then Sum() would work at any level. The SQL to do this
would be a bit hairy but possible.
Another approach would be to use UNION to have 2 row types in the
resultset - one for years and one for cards. Then display cards from
the second row type instead of by grouping.
